  • Abstract
Irrigation has been considered as a critical base for agriculture in areas where precipitation is insufficient. How to understand irrigation system from multiple views is a complex issue. The study on ancient irrigation systems refers to multidisciplinarity. Investigations of ancient irrigation have traditionally included considerable attention to hydrology; geomorphology and water infrastructure per se separately. The integration of aspects of human agency, water and infrastructure is in need. The article intends to explore the interaction between human and water construction using modeling for the case of Zhenguo Canal in China. The results gives indications how human activity affects and constrains the infrastructure and vice versa.
