Abstract
This paper evaluates the performance of TDMA protocol with multislot reservation and multiple user priorities. One of the main features of prioritization in TDMA is the ability to allocate more slots to high priority users. Although many prioritization techniques can be employed in TDMA, the multislot reservation capability will enable the system to improve the performance under low load conditions. Based on the characteristics of multislot TDMA, a heuristic algorithm is developed for multiclass users. The performance of the algorithm is tested in variable rate reservation access (VRRA) with periodic data traffic. The performance evaluation is based on simulations
