Abstract
An 800 MHz band fully automatic land mobile radio telephone system which has a capacity of 100,000 subscribers in commercial use since last fall. Mobile telephone service will successively be expanded to other big cities. Therefore, it will become necessary to prepare mobile telephone service along inter-city express highways. In this paper, several radio zone configuration methods which will be suitable to the express highway are proposed, and multi-hop link, gate stations which have as their primary function the distinguishing of highway radio channels from urban radio channels, propagation characteristics on express highways, and a common amplifier whose 3rd order intermodulation distortion is improved using pre-distortion techniques are discussed. This paper also includes brief discussions on traffic estimation on express highways and antenna coupling loss.
