  • Abstract
The realization of speech packeting is the key to ISDN development. In the methodology of packet-switching, maximum message length should be severely restricted and this restriction is based on queuing theory. Otherwise, a blocked message delay will take place. In order to restrain the delay, the queue length must be limited. Three results are presented. (1) The distribution expression of queue length and queue delay, as well as its solution, is given. (2) Computer simulation aiming at Chinese voice characteristics is performed. Comparing its results with one deduced by theoretical analysis, a necessary precision of theoretical values is verified. (3) In accordance with the general requirements for ISDN recommended by CCITT, some limit conditions for realizing speech packeting are proposed
