Abstract
The bit error rate of a frequency hopping channel affected by jammers at a multipath fading condition has been studied. Under this situation, the signaling bit error rate is increased, not only due to the mobile radio fading environment, but also due to the jamming. It is shown that a coding scheme is needed for the signaling in this specified environment. Therefore, we have examined a way to improve the signaling performance for a slow hopping system by using a repetition scheme, a scheme of transmitting an identical bit stream over a number of different chips. Upon signal arrival, a majority vote among repeated bits is taken. The scheme is simple, and the signaling performance has been found to be greatly improved.
