Abstract
Interfacial polarization and dissipation factor measurements have been made on paper-insulated conductor samples collected from an old retired transformer and on samples which had been subjected to accelerated aging. The molecular weights of the samples were also studied by GPC (gel permeation chromatography) analysis. Good correlation has been obtained between the methods for detecting changes in the properties of the insulation papers. Preliminary results are presented which also show very good correlation between the electrical and chemical test methods
