Abstract
LINET systems is a VLF/LF lightning detection network that started continuous operation in 2004, covering large parts of Europe and uses 130 sensors (as of spring 2014). Smaller systems have been set up in South America, Asia, and Australia. One system has been utilized in scientific campaigns in Brazil, Florida, Africa (Benin), and Australia. Copious data have be assembled and analyzed, and many comparisons with other lightning detection networks have been performed. The most outstanding system features concern detection efficiency, reporting of cloud lightning in a 3D mode, and location accuracy.
