Abstract
The Internet is being increasingly used to support a wide range of applications that are subject to QoS constraints for proper operation. Widespread resource sharing, highly dynamic workload, great diversity in network bandwidth, the absence of resource reservation and lack of QoS guarantees characterize many existing networks. These properties are not favorable for many interactive or real-time multimedia applications. In this paper, we focus on finding a possible priority queuing solution to improve the QoS for interactive applications. We propose two priority assignment control schemes to improve the packet queuing delay, which is the dominant delay component in the information transfer process
