Abstract
Hemiplegic patients with a mean age of 64.5±5.6 years were assessed for their ability to transfer from wheelchair to bed. The sensor was attached to the top of the head and three directions (lateral, anterior-posterior and rotation angles) of signals were recorded during each trial with the signals synchronized at the initial head movements of the subjects. Hemiplegic patients displayed significantly greater time to transfer and increased anterior-posterior and rotational angle displacement, compared with normal subjects who imitated those who were paralysed. There were no significant differences in the lateral angle. The angular measurement during transfer performed by hemiplegic patients may be an effective means of evaluating transfer training
