Abstract
Ionizing radiation is known to produce lipid peroxidation in cell membranes besides DNA damage. At high irradiation levels this results in a loss of cell membrane integrity followed by acute cell necrosis in the time course of hours. The authors´ investigation shows that the membrane sealing surfactant Poloxamer 188 in combination with antioxidants and ATP is effective in improving postirradiation survival
