  • Abstract
    We present S-band Raman amplifiers that compensate both dispersion and span loss using distributed and discrete amplification over 1488/1518 nm. We transmitted 40 /spl times/ 10 Gb/s over 6 /spl times/ 100 km of a prototype TrueWave/sup AE/ fiber.
