Abstract
This paper addresses a new design methodology for broadband arrays, which imposes no restriction on the desired far- and near-field beam pattern, can cope with arbitrarily wide bandwidths and has computational simplicity and accuracy. We clarify the concepts and demonstrate the feasibility of the design procedure with an example design covering a 10:1 frequency range, which is suitable for speech acquisition using a microphone array
