Abstract
The doubly fed machine (DFM) is given an increasing attention in high power variable speed drives and in wind power generation systems, where it exhibits high performance. This has been gained thanks to the implementation of the stator flux oriented control (SFOC). Nevertheless, beyond the effect of heating, the robustness of such control strategy is affected by saturation. The basis of an approach to face SFOC sensitiveness to saturation is proposed. The modelling and the stability analysis of the DFM are treated, taking into account the main magnetic saturation. It has been found that the saturation induces a stabilization effect which does not affect the damping capability of the DFM
