Abstract
Built around 50 years ago, the distribution network must be monitored from time to time in order to maintain the security level for intervening staff and third parties and the supply quality level. These monitoring operations should also reveal elements that are coming to the end of their service life which should be replaced in a normal and scheduled maintenance cycle. With a view to ever increasing the quality of the service, preventive actions make it possible to localise weak points and to optimise maintenance investments by taking into account customer constraints and developments in environmental constraints or even constraints linked to the partial modification of the network. This article presents a report of EDF´s R&D Division´s thoughts on the expert evaluation of MV overhead lines and the work programme defined in order to assess the requirements and the content of a global expert evaluation of these outgoing cables
