Abstract
Energy market liberalisation has resulted in a drastic reduction in energy prices. Even in the quasimonopolistic area, owing to comparative competition, losses in revenue through falling network utilization fees are to be expected. These can only be compensated for by corresponding cost reductions. In this paper, the authors describe how the changes in these general conditions have required Germany´s VEW Energie AG to make completely new strategic arrangements, using the development of a balanced scorecard system approach
