  • Abstract
We propose a new turbo detection structure called as multiple channel turbo detection (MCTD) where the role of the channel is different than that in the classical case. Contrary to the classical case where the channel is serially concatenated to the channel encoder, it constitutes the component code of a parallel concatenated coding structure which is further concatenated serially with the channel encoding scheme. This is accomplished by transmitting the coded symbols in parallel through randomly interleaved multiplexed channels. The receiver performs joint equalization and decoding by using soft-in soft-out modules that provide a posteriori probabilities of coded as well as uncoded data. The results of computer simulations that are carried out on static as well as dynamic channels show that MCTD is a promising technique for the transmission of coded symbols through dispersive channels
