  • Abstract
Methods for numerical computation of the gamma function Gamma(x), of its logarithmic derivative psi(x) and of the Kummer and Tricomi confluent hypergeometric functions Phi(a,c;x) and Psi(a,c;x), resp. for real a , c and x, are proposed. For the purpose expansions of the functions in power series around point zero are utilized. Some properties of Gamma(x) and psi(x) are employed, too. An application of the techniques is considered in the theory of azimuthally magnetized coaxial ferrite waveguides, supporting slow rotationally symmetric TE modes
