  • Abstract
    Electric motors represent a significant investment for companies in the petrochemical industry. Because of the large scope of several capital projects, it is not unusual for motors to rest in storage for up to two years before being placed into service. Furthermore, it is a common practice to have spare motors for critical processes that often sit unused for significant periods of time. Appropriate care of the motors that are not in operation is crucial for their successful commissioning and longevity. However, even the most advanced users often do not know how to properly care for motors in storage. This article addresses the best practices for long-term electric motor storage.
