  • Abstract
In this paper, an on-line load monitoring system is proposed, with only one meter, which analysis appliance energizing and de-energizing transient and steady-state feature to keep track of the energy consumption of each appliance. From electrical appliances load model viewpoint, it is easy to establish a load model for a single kind of appliance. But household appliance system consists of various kinds of appliance which have its own features, the power consumption of individual appliances cannot be identified directly. In this paper, appliances are classified by working principle and current time relation. When electrical appliances are running, the steady-state (such as base power and harmonics power, etc.) or transient (such as transient voltages, electric current, disturbance waveform, etc) response of mainline can be captured through the analyses of current waveform by using artificial neural network (ANN) and genetic algorithm (GA). Then by analyzing elements of that current waveform, the switching and energy consumption of appliance can be tracked.
