Abstract
A magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) method for simultaneous moving magnetic dipole target and scalar magnetometer is developed. It is an extension of the traditional approach for only either the target or the sensor is moving. A modified triplet of orthonormal basis functions (OBF) is introduced, and an optimizing choice of the characteristic time is discussed. Whitening filtering technique is applied to signals contaminated by non-Gaussian noise to improve the detectability. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is viable.
