  • Abstract
A wavelength demultiplexer based on plasmonic broadband slow-wave systems is proposed. The broadband slow-wave systems consists of subwavelength metal/insulator/metal (MIM) grating waveguide with periodic grooves on their inner boundaries and can make electromagnetic (EM) waves at different frequencies stopped at specified locations. The simulation results show good agreement with the theoretical analysis. Stub waveguide structures with different lengths are adopted where the EM waves are trapped. By designing the stubs carefully, the trapped EM waves at different frequencies can be released and propagate along these stub branches. We design and implement a two-way wavelength demultiplexer working at 7 GHz and 9 GHz.
