Abstract
This paper presents a simplified model to represent a grid connected wind farm composed of variable speed wind turbines with Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) for dynamic simulation study. Aim of the simplified model is to reduce the complexity and the long simulation time of the analysis of grid connected wind farm. The proposed simplified model can be suitable to be used as an aggregated or individual wind generator model representation. Simulations analysis in time domain has been performed for transient and steady state scenarios to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed model. Comparative analysis between the proposed simplified and detailed models is also performed and presented. The simulation results show that the simplified model can give sufficient accuracy in both the transient and steady state conditions.
