  • Abstract
Wireless visual sensor networks (WVSN) have been developed as a directional types of sensor network with different challenges such as optimization of energy consumption. These networks provide more information than the other types of wireless sensor networks. The goal of this paper is to optimize the tradeoff between the energy consumption and the quality of the received data. For realization of this goal, we investigated the camera node selection problem for target tracking applications. In our proposed camera node selection algorithm the desired constraints are satisfied. Some of these constraints which have not been used before for quality measurement are employed in energy consumption optimization. In our proposed algorithm, the problem is modeled and solved as a suitable convex problem. Also, we compared the results of simulations for the proposed algorithm with those of the algorithm which select the camera node with the shortest distance from the target under tracking as the best solution.
