Abstract
In this paper, a triple-band inverted F-slot microstrip patch antenna for WiMAX application is presented. The radiation performance such as VSWR, return loss, radiation pattern and gain of the antenna are simulated using Ansoft HFSS and presented. The operating frequencies of the proposed design fall in three bands of operation for WiMAX technology which are 2.4 GHz (2.5-2.8 GHz) called the low-band, 3.2 GHz (3.2-3.8 GHz) called the medium-band and 5.3 GHz (5.2-5.8GHz) called the high-band. Radiating patch lies on the Rogers RT/duroid 5880 substrate which is having dielectric constant 2.2 and height 3.175 mm. Coaxial feeding technique is used to feed the antenna with 50 ohm impedance. This proposed antenna have the maximum gain of 5.77 dB at 2.4 GHz, 6.32 dB at 3.9 GHz and 7.74 dB at 5.7 GHz frequencies. This proposed antenna enhances the return loss of -13.5 dB at 2.4 GHz, -14.2 dB at the 3.9 GHz and -33 dB at 5.7 GHz frequencies. Computer simulated results showing the VSWR value lesser than two at the 2.42-2.52 GHz, 3.8-3.95 GHz and 5.58-5.95 GHz frequency range of WiMAX standards.
