  • Abstract
The development of high-fidelity real-time simulators for research and design are playing an important role in commercial and military applications. High performance computers made an increase of accuracy of simulation possible, but the complexity of simulation still rules the capability of operating in real-time. Based on the common development framework of Direct3D (D3D) DXUT to help the developers reduce the debugging time on basic problems and accelerate their development, we developed a flight simulator in Visual Studio 2005, simulating the climbing and turning of aircraft and the scene of terrain and sky. For mesh optimization, an independent mesh management module can be support to simulate a large number of aircraft (∼60 frames per second) moving at the same time. Besides, the flight of each mesh model can be controlled freely in three-dimensional space.
