Abstract
A technique for the manipulation of the frequency spectrum of a block code is introduced, using generalised array codes (GACs) and trellis decoding. It is shown that a spectral shaping code can be derived from a normal GAC without increasing the decoding trellis complexity. A scheme allowing real-time adaptation to adverse channel characteristics is described
