Abstract
Three second-order allpass filter structures that use a minimum number of multipliers are considered. These are a numerator-denominator tapped delay line (ND-TDL) structure and two wave digital filter (WDF) structures. The potential for overload for the critical internal nodes within these structures is evaluated using the L∞ and L1 norms. The relative performance of these structures indicates that the ND-TDL structure has the best all-round properties while one of the WDF structures performs poorly.
