  • Abstract
A lot of the glamour in power electronics is often associated with the power semiconductor components. One should remember that the only actions the FET, the IGBT, the BJT or the SCR can do for us is to switch the current off, and then turn it back on again. Magnetic components, however, can have very much wider functions. This paper does not delve into the intricacies of magnetics design instead, it demonstrates the functions that magnetics can perform, and shows their purpose within some of the more common UPS topologies
