Abstract
This paper introduces an improved stat-space averaged representation of switching power converters for LED driving taking into consideration the equivalent electrical model of the LED array being driven. This allows for exact prediction of the large-signal behavior of the converter when presented with duty-cycle, load and input voltage disturbances, as well as obtaining the accurate small-signal transfer functions for proper control loop design. Simulation and experimental results are given to validate the state-space model presented, which are then compared to the classical approach to modeling such LED drivers.
