Abstract
The focus of this work is on the design of a protocol to provide for the transfer of heterogeneous traffic comprising real time voice, data and video on a token ring local area network (LAN). The rationale behind an integrated services LAN, the related protocol engineering design issues, and the hardware and software design of an end system on the LAN which employs the protocol are detailed. The protocol and the end system are implemented using low-cost off the-shelf components
