Abstract
A computational method is presented for long time simulation of pulse precursor propagation in a circular dielectric waveguide. The method is based on Body-of-Revolution Finite Difference in Time Domain technique, moving frame approach, and radial Perfectly Matched Layer used for restricting the open domain. Using the moving frame approach makes possible to analyze the pulse propagation at significant distance in a short computational time. Physical interpretation of the phenomenon under study is presented as well. The propagation speed of the precursor and its decay rate are determined from the numerical simulation.
