Abstract

The Association of Electronic Technology for Automobile Traffic and Driving (JSK) has been researching and developing electric vehicle-sharing systems since 1998, based on the application of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) technologies. One of these systems is the City Car System, which underwent operational testing in a demonstration that was launched in September 1999 in Yokohama´s Minato Mirai 21 (MM21) district. The City Car System is designed for shared vehicle use on weekdays by business people working in the downtown area. This paper mainly describes the results of the demonstration conducted from June 2000 to February 2001
