Abstract
Summary form only given. Non-linear amplification phenomena in a semiconductor microcavity due to a stimulated redistribution of polaritons in momentum space have recently attracted considerable interest. However at the elevated carrier densities used in these experiments the dielectrical properties of the cavity are modified, leading to additional optical non-linearities. The role of these changes has not been studied up to now. In order to clarify this issue we investigate the optical response of a cavity in transmission as well as in reflection geometry. For this purpose pump-probe experiments have been performed, where the pump angle corresponds to the so-called magic angle for stimulated polariton scattering and the probe beam is perpendicular to the sample surface.
