Abstract
In recent years, there has been considerable attention in the field of pulsed power focused on high voltage repetitive switching. As a result, many techniques have been introduced, investigated and applied, in order to achieve high repetitive switching rates. These have included switch operation at very high gas pressures, the employment of high velocity gas flow and the use of triggered switches operating at well below their self breakdown level. This paper describes corona stabilisation as a technique for repetitive switching operation and outlines the performance that can be achieved with repetitive switches which operate in the presence of corona stabilisation
