Abstract
With the goal to create a single open standard software platform and, therefore, to enable a horizontal market for iTV services, the DVB Project developed the MHP (Multimedia Home Platform). The MHP has been adopted world-wide by many countries and by operators of various networks as the standard platform. Several groups started to investigate the potential of an MHP based platform in a mobile environment. We are active members of some of these groups working on new concepts and APIs to design a mobile MHP version. This paper describes some of our ideas covering issues like the mobile reception of MHP applications or specific control mechanisms (e.g. speech control, adaptability to various input devices).
