Abstract
Ubiquitous systems interact with the environment in which they operate. Many consider that the operating environment´s main infrastructure is the sensor system, especially a wireless sensor network. However, older sensor systems do not have wireless sensor network level capabilities. Sensor network nodes have a communication function, computation processor and memory. However, older sensors simply measure a target and transmit a current or voltage value. Sensor networks are experimental and have yet to be proven commercially viable, and many older sensor-based systems remain. These older systems cannot be thrown away to match a ubiquitous environment. Consequently, we need the ability to migrate from older sensor systems to ubiquitous sensor systems. In this paper, we accomplish this migration using a role concept
