Abstract
In this paper, a hexagon electromagnetic band-gap (EBG) structure is designed and applied into spaceborne antenna. By using surrounding periodic electromagnetic band-gap structure, a circularly-polarized spaceborne antenna operating at S band is designed. Taking spin-stabilized and three-axis-stabilized microsatellite platforms as examples, the antenna radiation performance, such as beamwidth and gain, are discussed. Simulated results show that the EBG structure can improve the performance of spaceborne antenna effectively.
