  • Abstract
This article presents the simulations performed in CST MWS in a preliminary work for lung tumour detection in a thorax model using scattering parameters. The scattering parameters as functions of frequency were converted to functions of time. The time domain scattering parameters were achieved by applying the ifft function and a subsequent smoothing was performed on the time domain data. Detection was performed by comparing plots of reflection coefficients against time in the presence and absence of tumour in the lung tissue of the thorax model. It is shown that scattering parameters are a good pointer to indicate presence of tumour.
