  • Abstract
To achieve better motor performance, especially satisfying Ld and Lq values, some design parameters of synchronous reluctance motor (SRM) are explored on the basis of magnetic field analysis by finite element method(FEM). Numerical results show that an optimal design can be obtained, with a thickness ratio of insulation layer to lamination layer and a proper laminated pole span. These are consistent with a real machine. Moreover, magnetic field computation reveals that the included angle α between stator field and q-axis of the rotor must be controlled about 45° with iron unsaturated, and gradually increased until 70° with iron saturated at rated current, in order to obtain the largest electromagnetic torque.
