Abstract
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems can provide a noticeable improvement in channel performance. Nevertheless some perturbances affect the capability of this technique to get the expected improvement. Due to the use of multiple antennas at the same front-end and their close spacing the so called antennas correlation effect appears. Antennas correlation can drastically affect the channel behaviour by increasing the bit-error rate (BER) and dropping its capability. This paper analyses the impact of transmitter-side antennas correlation on the MIMO system performance. The singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to transform the MIMO channel into independent layers. Afterwards bit and power allocation techniques are applied in order to obtain the best performance.
