  • Abstract
The author presents a systematic four-phase approach to the implementation of industrial robots. Phase 1 (the preparation phase) includes the establishment of a robotics team, familiarization with robot technology, an initial plant survey, and the selection and prioritization of applications. Phase 2 (the engineering phase) includes preliminary and detailed design. Phase 3 (the implementation phase) includes system building and preinstallation activities. Phase 4 (the follow-up phase) includes monitoring, downtime logging, and final cost/benefit analysis
