Abstract
Web based/online distance education has established itself as part of the everyday operation in many universities. Since many distance education systems and processes have been adopted, and many alternative systems are available, it is necessary to place, emphasis on being able to assess the quality of operation of such systems, the educational content of the teaching and the effectiveness of the learning experience. The technical support services for good and prompt delivery of transmitted data such as voice and video are of course critical factors, but ones that we argue should not be considered in isolation. In this paper, audio/video quality analysis and the joint quality evaluation of audio and video related to the effectiveness of online/distance education is considered, with an aim to proposing an assessment metric.
