Abstract
A microstrip patch antenna with a two-dimensional multi-period electronic bandgap (EBG) structure (previously termed photonic band gap - PBG), which is sandwiched between the patch and the ground plane, is proposed. and assessed using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. The simulated results show some attractive features of using this multi-period EBG structure.
