  • Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) systems against TDT (timing with a dirty template) synchronization acquisition algorithm is only suitable for pulse amplitude modulation (PAM). This paper presents the pulse position modulation ( PPM ) using the Hermite pulse based on dirty template mode ( TDT ) synchronous acquisition algorithm. We deduced the expression of the received signal in PPM modulation. We analyzed the characteristics of the received signal in the cross-correlation function of the adjacent symbols. The analysis results show that, in different pulse amplitude modulation ( PAM ) of the cross-correlation function, because of the nonlinear PPM modulation, synchronization parameters cannot acquire the cross-correlation function. Therefore, this paper uses the method of orthogonal Hermite pulses to solve this problem. Using the orthogonal Hermite a string of alternating pulse signal is modulated to be sent, and the original TDT algorithm is modified to achieve synchronization. In the training sequence, superior performance is achieved. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show that, the algorithm has the advantages of simple structure, good performance the short capture time, and low implementation complexity.
