Abstract
Presents discontinuous control laws for distributed parameter systems of parabolic and hyperbolic types which yield asymptotic tracking of the output of a reference model. The use of the discontinuity in these control laws permits rejection of input disturbances and ensures robustness with respect to dynamic uncertainties, both with the a priori known norm bounds. It is also demonstrated that unknown plant parameters could be simultaneously identified pointwise through the construction of the auxiliary system. Under the persistently exciting reference input, the time-varying parameters of the auxiliary system converge to plant parameters in L2 and the orthogonal expansions of the former obtained by passing them through the integrator block converge to plant parameters pointwise
