  • Abstract
The IEEE International Conference on Digital Game and Intelligent Toy Enhanced Learning (DIGITEL 2012), held from 27th to 30th March 2012, in Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan, is a premier conference focusing on research and practices for learning enhanced by state-of-art technologies related to games, toys, and entertainment. The conference covers all aspects of pedagogical principles and design and technological issues for digital games, intelligent toys, and entertainment applications to enhance learning. From a pedagogical perspective, video games and digital toys offer a new approach to designing for learning. From a technological perspective, digital games employ advanced computing, multimedia, and Internet technology, while intelligent toys utilize embedded chips and sensors together with wireless, mobile, and ubiquitous technologies. We received 56 paper submissions this year. After a thorough review process, the Program Committee accepted 7 full papers and 11 short papers. We thank the members of the International Program Committee for their insightful reviews of the submitted papers within a short review period.
