Abstract
The electrical performance of a 20-kHz actuator system is considered. It is found that the line voltage distortion of the 20-kHz bus degrades system performance. Several methods of alleviating this problem are investigated. These methods include increasing the relative size of the 20-kHz source, increasing the size of the shunt bus filter, and changing the control and topology of the load. These latter two methods are shown to yield improvement without introducing additional energy storage into the system
