  • Abstract
The specification and description language (SDL) and message sequence charts (MSCs) are established techniques to support the software development process in the telecommunication industry. Several commercial tools exist supporting functional aspects of the engineering process. However, rather little research has been done concerning the integration of nonfunctional aspects in the development process. Our research is focusing on the integration of performance aspects in the development process. In the paper, we give an overview on the DO-IT toolbox. The DO-IT toolbox supports the formal specification of performance requirements as well as the automatic selection of the appropriate design and implementation decisions. In the paper, we focus on an important aspect for the integration of performance issues in the design process, namely the formal specification of performance data based on MSCs
