Abstract
As a new skill to suppress the harmonic radiation from the antenna we introduce the 2-dimensional photonic band gap structure (PBG) to the ground plane of the microstrip patch antenna. Theoretical and experimental results indicate that the resonance at 1st and 2 nd harmonics can be removed perfectly and the radiation is suppressed at more than 15 dB
