  • Abstract
With the advance of information and communication technologies (ICTs), business works that have traditionally been conducted via physical mechanisms are being conducted virtually by electronic media, also named e-Work. Virtual processes of e-Work have been receiving more and more attention both in management literature and practice of industry. However, social influences on virtual process performance of e-Works have been seldom studied. This paper provides a novel insight into realization of virtual process performance (VPP) drawn on relevant perspectives and theory construction methodology. This research presents a new lens for virtual processes of e-Work which are playing a critical role in contemporary research field. The VPP theory describes detailed dimensions of social networks which affect the performance of virtual process through resource benefits in contemporary organizations and has superior explanatory power. Furthermore, this work presents potential future research directions for virtual process of e-Work.
